Welcome to the McCusker Centre for Action on Alcohol and Youth.

The aim of the McCusker Centre for Action on Alcohol and Youth (MCAAY) is to reduce levels of drinking, harmful drinking and alcohol problems among young people.

Key objectives of the MCAAY include raising awareness of:
•    The levels of harmful drinking and harm from alcohol among young people;
•    The actions we know can be effective in preventing harm from alcohol; and
•    The need for action without delay.

MCAAY will also work to stimulate and inform community discussion and debate about alcohol issues.

The focus of awareness raising and community discussion will be to create pressure for action on key areas including:

•    Public awareness;
•    Alcohol availability and access;
•    Price;
•    Community education;
•    Drink-driving;
•    Developing coalitions;
•    Support for services;
•    Support for research;
•    Exposure of young people to alcohol advertising, marketing and sponsorship;
•    Working with indigenous organisations and communities; and
•    Other targets as they arise.
